Clearing "unplayed rounds" quickly from Bridgemate (Read 52 times)

Undecided   Could you please advise an easy way to clear Bridgemate machines of pending data input from rounds which are not completed due to time constraints? At the moment I am physically going through each machine and anetering a "Not Played" (0 under TD-Menu) against each board for the round on each machine. Since it is only usually one round which is not played because we have run out of time, this sometimes involves physically recording 7 machines (say, x 4 boards) = 28 boards (phew!)

If these machines are NOT cleared they retian the data even until the following week and cause problems when setting up the next event.

Is there a way (probably via the PC Control Program) to clear these records held in the Bridgemate individual machines?

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris

Resetting the Table Top Units can be done by resetting the BM-server. This normally happens automatically when you create a new session or event in your scorer so a new database is created and send to the BM-server and the units.

Your scorer must somewhere have an option to initialize.

It might help if I explain the procedure first:
- The scoring program (like ASE8 or Scorebridge) creates a database, based on the movement
- The scoring program sends the database to the server
- When the units make contact with the server, they retrieve the stored information about the movement

Now, to feed the units (with new information) something has to be done in the database, for instance a change of the number of rounds and this can be done by the scoring program.

If you enter the new specifications of the session in the scoring program and let it update the server from round X (X =current round +1), the units will retrieve that new information when they make contact to the server. Please note that you have to do all this BEFORE changing for the next (last) round.

This is the clean way and it avoids a discrepancy between the scoring program and the Bridgemate system.

The less cleaner way is even easier Smiley
If you run a new session you will create a new database file as well. This file will erase the old file. Although the units still 'think' they are running the previous session, they will get the new information as soon as they make contact with the server and they will reset themselves automatically.

Please note that you have to warn your players that they will see some messages from the previous session first but by pressing the OK key a few times, they will start from scratch again.  That will teach them to zoom a little next time  Smiley

With the new software (version 2 or higher) it is possible to close rounds (menu > session). This can be handy if you like to curtail a session or during congresses when you want to have a tighter time schedule.
